Monetizing a blog is alot of hard work. It can not be achieved in the short term. It can take upto a year ot two even in cases. But one should not give up. If you keeo writing content then it is bound to add up in the end. I divide my time equally between writing new content and participating on social media sites to popularise my blog.
I really like the idea of affiliate sales, sometimes I wonder whether this market is flooded but I think if you spend time researching your niche and really look into your market to see how well you could do in this market. I use affiliate banners etc. in my blog briefly rather than overdoing it with Adsense. I think that Adsense ads look good if they match the content and are worthy of being on the site.
