10 Commandments Of Blogging For Newbies

If you’re just starting out a blog to make money blogging, here are 10 rules of blogging that you would be wise to observe.

  1. Thou shalt not copy the blog themes of A-list bloggers or put pictures of flashy sports cars in your blog header.
  2. Thou shalt not display your feedburner counter if your feed count is 12 or below 100.

  3. Thou shalt not grovel and beg readers to “please, please, please subscribe” to your blog.

  4. Thou shalt not blogroll A-list bloggers - you’re only giving them free advertising for which you’ll receive no gratitude.

  5. Thou shalt not blog about A-list bloggers hoping they will notice you - they won’t.

  6. Thou shalt not post repeatedly in forums asking when the next PageRank update will be.

  7. Thou shalt not display traffic or reader community widgets of any kind that show you’ve had 2 visitors 17 days ago.

  8. Thou shalt not take every word written by A-list bloggers to be gospel truth.

  9. Thou shalt not show off your pathetic earnings of $247.52 in 21 weeks and say it’s a “preety good” showing.

  10. Thou shalt not be an A-list blogger groupie and waste time reading posts about what they had for lunch.

Breaking any of these rules will result in other bloggers giving you as an example in their posts about how dumb new bloggers are.

    WRONG

Giving them kudos for the education you are receiving from them (your payment), is the right thing to do. And, if you are sincere, some DO return the favor by passing you along to others. Not all ‘A-list’ bloggers are shallow or selfish. You are in the wrong places my friend. If you have any talent at all, you’ll eventually gain kudos for your efforts over time.

No flashy sports cars here, so that’s easy enough.

    How about:

    11. Thou shalt not use Wordpress.com as thy blogging platform.

nice, props to you for saying what not only needs to be said but should be said more often - the A-list A-holes are dishing out information that worked for them during a period when there were about 2 zillion less blogs competing with each other.

Newbies use Blogger anyway…and then a few months down the road, they go around asking how to transfer their blogspots to Wordpress. :D
